Message strategy - The Women's growth cub

  • Client Meylen Funk
  • Date July 2026
  • Author Marcela Paglione

Meylen reached out to me to say to solve her "word chaos", in her own words. She had many ideas for her brand, The Women's Growth Club, but they were all scattered in her brain after all the time she spent either thinking by herself, taking courses or talking to AI.

And, I gotta say, this is one of my favorite things to do. Absolutely love this type of project!

So, how does it work?

In our strategy session, Meylen and I spent three hours (broken down in two days) working on the on her message (a basis for her mentoring business) followed by a check-in 15 days later to solve any queries that might come up once the new strategy was put into practice.

How it helps

This strategy session was focused on organizing how a business talks, what it stands for, who it speaks to, and how it sounds across channels. As.a result., Meylen would have a centralized reference that can be used for writing social media content, website copy, blog posts, ads, videos, and even everyday communication with clients before, during, and after her 1-1 sessions.

Now, Meylen can confidently say that she is a mentor for women who want to turn business ideas into action!

What we work on during the 3 hours

  1. Brand foundations. We put the mission (the reason the business exists), the vision (the future it is working toward), and the values (the non-negotiables) into words.
  2. Brand story and core message. We define the narrative behind the brand and the central idea the audience should take away.
  3. Service, audience, and benefits. We describe what the business offers, who it is for, and what the client gains from it.
  4. Brand voice. We work through three connected layers: personality, aka the essence of the brand, the voice (how it sounds), and tone (how the voice adjusts to each situation or type of content). To place the brand on the tone spectrum, we use the four dimensions of tone of voice adapted from the Nielsen Norman Group: formal to casual, serious to funny, respectful to irreverent, and matter-of-fact to enthusiastic. We close this block with a set of brand keywords.
  5. Social media and content guide. We define the topics the brand will talk about, based on the client's needs and interests (what to say). We also decide which channels to use (where) and the tone for each (how to say it).

What you get:

After our sessions, you receive a recording of our meetings + a comprehensive message strategy document, which can be used as a guide for communication.

Follow-up after 15 days

I always like to have a meeting two weeks after our work, because, by then the client has had time to apply the strategy, and we can use this time to answer any remaining questions and clarify or adjust any part of the document, if needed.
